First Day Home

Getting out of the hospital proved to take a lot longer than we thought....Checkout was on 4/7/08 at 11am, but we were told on the sly that we could take a bit longer if needed. I still needed to be seen by the pediatrician, my OBGYN, and the lactation consultant. I also needed to go through checklists with my nurse and sign a bunch of paperwork. And throughout this time there were meals to be had and feedings to do as well as getting our stuff packed up. We didn't leave until 6pm!

Once we got Camryn in the carseat and all of our worldly goods onto a cart, I was wheeled down to the pickup area. I realized that I hadn't been outside in a few days.....Of course, Camryn had to Christen the carseat by spitting up. And it was a big one. We got her cleaned up and loaded into the car. The car ride was surreal and a little scary at the same time. Here we were, driving with an infant that I just gave birth to. And we could use the carpool lane! :)

Once we arrived at home, we realized that everything needed to be set up according to what we had learned over the last few days in the hospital. In fact, we didn't have any baby wipes (ironically we had a warmer for them), so Matt had to make a quick run to the store. It's such a cliche for a new dad to be running to the store with that panicked/exhausted look on his face.

Next thing we knew it was 11:00pm. We ended up putting Camryn in her Pack n' Play in our bedroom. It was going to a long night as we had to feed her every other hour. And it took the both of us to do it. But we made it through!
